JUAN DEL CASTILLO / / LEAD VOCAL

Juan Del Castillo is a singer-songwriter born and raised in San Diego, California. He began making music at a very young age. As a child, Juan sang in choir and performed in plays and musicals. He also began acting in television shows and commercials at age 12. Shortly afterward, he took professional singing and acting lessons, which paved the way toward a life of stage performance.

Juan’s musical style is derived from a wide variety of influences, and contains elements of various musical genres including Pop, Rock, Mariachi, and R&B. He has honed his skills with over 25 years of performing in front of a live audience. Juan is a dynamic showman whose passion for performing, natural charisma, and innate ability to completely captivate audiences with his stage presence have led him down a path of artistry and potential musical stardom. His wide array of influences and his command of both the English and Spanish languages enable him to cross artistic borders by fusing cultural sounds with universal music elements.

Famed Argentinean composer/producer Roberto Livi (Roberto Carlos, Jose Jose, Julio Iglesias) recognized Juan’s unquestionable gifts. He signed him to a production contract that spawned a studio album and earned Juan national and international exposure. After the release of his first album, Al Borde de un Ataque de Amor on Sony’s BMG US Latin, Juan decided to return to the stage. Although he is at “home” in the recording studio, it is the live audience that offers complete artistic fulfillment.

Juan’s vocal timbre, range, and fierce control have more recently drawn comparisons to former Journey frontman, Steve Perry. Currently, Juan is the Lead Vocalist for the nationally touring act DSB, America’s Favorite Tribute to Journey. With Juan’s astonishing vocal similarities, a band of world-class musicians, and Journey’s recent cultural relevance (The Sopranos, GLEE), DSB has taken the tribute world by storm, highly revered by fans as the “next best thing” to Journey.
